The Role of a School Board Trustee

While I'm happy to hear from you, also please understand that a school board trustee fills a specific role. Individually, trustees have no authority or actual decision-making power. The board only has authority when it is convened in a formal meeting, and when a majority of trustees in a quorum vote in agreement on specific issues contained within the meeting agenda. As such, an individual trustee is limited in their ability to become directly involved in various situations. Many issues, situations, or disagreements which occur within the school system have a chain of command which must be worked through in order to attempt to resolve them.

While your comments are valuable in helping trustees to make decisions which represent the community, we are unable to directly intervene in district affairs individually. You may be referred to school administration, other faculty/staff members, or a complaint resolution procedure if you have a specific complaint which may be better resolved at another level.
