"Parental rights" is one of the last phrases which you would expect to be controversial. But parental rights is no longer an innocent term. It's yet another phrase which has been co-opted by political groups to have an alternate meaning.

There's a fair chance that masks will be a non-issue again by the time the 2022 school board trustee election wraps up. And then what?

"Science" is not an unwavering religion; it is a process through which we explore the world, ask questions, suggest answers, and try to figure out if there is a solution which can be repeated. Our understanding of the world through science changes often.

We've come to live in a time where a person can publicly make a claim which verifiably runs counter to facts and reality, and instead of being rebuked entirely as nonsense, an alarmingly high percentage of the population is now likely to side with such a person instead. I cannot put into words how concerning this shift in our society is.
